Intercontinental
It is a new and upcoming area of Hurghada. The areas started to be constructed in approximately 2004. It inherited its name thanks to a nearby hotel of the same name. Situated in the North district of Hurghada, it is bordered by a tourist centre to the south. The village of Magawish and Mubarak 6 are on the west side. The hotel once known as 'Intercontinental' has now changed its name to 'Continental' after the world famous chain of hotels.
The district is interesting because in the near future it will become a highly fashionable place in Hurghada, which is inhabited by wealthy people. Within walking distance, there are two city beaches - â„– 8, â„– 9. Both beaches are cozy and clean, with fine, white sand entering the sea.
Hotels in this area include; Grand Plaza Hotel, Hilton Resort and Santa - Maria Hotel. A new grand hotel is being built at present - Windsor Garden City Resort. It promises to become not only big in size, but also offer a huge array of services.
Entertainment in this area is easy to find. A short walking distance away, you can find the Hard Rock Cafe, a mass of cozy bars, where you can sit and try the sweet Egyptian karkade or water pipes (sishas). The Hotel El Gandul is a small nightclub. At Magawish Resort you will find windsurfing and kite surfing, as well as annual tournaments for these watersports.
The Intercontinental District benefits from a variety of properties including; modern apartments, residential complexes with swimming pools, sauna houses and restaurants. The area is very popular with Italians, who have built a mini-village for Italian residents settling here.
An urban water supply has already been laid for this area. Hurghada's local authority are planning to develop a large city park here. There is already a pedestrian zone (Promenade) which currently ends at the Grand Plaza Hotel. Those who wish to buy property in the area, should hurry, because the district will soon will be fully competed and housing prices will increase significantly.
