Minister of Trade and Industry, Rachid Mohamed Rachid arrived in Munich on Monday 21 June 2010 on a five-day visit for talks with German Officials on increasing Egyptian exports.
Rachid is due to hold talks with the Heads of Germany's major companies to discuss cooperation in the fields of new and renewable energy, trade exchange and training.
Rachid, who is accompanied by a delegation of 65 leading businessmen, will hold talks with German Minister of Economy and Technology, Rainer Bruederle. He will also address the German Institute for International and Security Affairs on economic reform and political development in Egypt.
Rachid will meet with senior officials in Bavaria. He will meet with Bavaria's Minister of Economic Affairs, Martin Zeil, and Minister for European and Federal Affairs, Emilia Mueller. He will also meet with chairmen of a number of major Bavarian companies.
The Egyptian-German Business Forum, organized by the German-Arab Chamber of Industry and Commerce (GACIC), will be held Tuesday 22 June 2010 during Rashid's visit to Munich.
In statements, Rachid said his talks with senior German officials and chairmen of companies aim at increasing Egyptian exports to Germany as part of a plan prepared by his ministry to implement a national strategy to double exports to 200 billion EGP by 2013.
Egyptian exports to Germany in 2008 exceeded for the first time 1.1 billion euros, but went down to 832 million euros in 2009 due to the global economic crisis. He said that Egypt is looking forward to increasing its exports to Germany this year.
