Egyptian Minister of Information - Anas el-Fikki said that Nilesat 201, which is slated for launch on August 4, reflects the depth of Egyptian-French ties under the leadership of Presidents Hosni Mubarak and Nicolas Sarkozy.

"The launch of the second generation of Nilesat satellites boosts Egypt's status in this strategic sector", Fikki said in statements on Sunday.

"Nilesat Company, one of the major television and radio broadcasting service providers, transmits over 560 TV channels and 100 radio stations", the Minister noted.

"Launch of Nilesat 201 is a tangible leap towards the future", Fikki said, noting that it would meet the demands of Egypt and the Arab area up to 2025.

The Minister entrusted Egyptian Satellite Co. Chairman - Ahmad Anis to attend the launch ceremony of Nilesat 201 from the Kourou base in French Guiana. (SIS)
