Egyptian Electricity Minister-  Hassan Younis said on Sunday 29/8/2010 that about 1,425 new megawatts are to be added to the national electricity grid next month.

"The new capacity will be generated by the new units installed at Al-Nubaria, West Cairo, High Dam power stations, as well as the solar station at al-Kureimat and the wind farm in al-Zaafarana.

This will bring the capacities added to the grid in 2010 to 2,660 megawatts", the Minister said, noting that "the overall capacity will total 27,440 megawatts by the end of the year".
