Fish butterfly sea butterfly, fish, Pegasus. The body is covered with strong plates, snout type proboscis. The lateral fins of the body resemble wings. Dorsal fins are absent. Moves along the bottom with fins, using them as legs.
In contrast to their freshwater cousins, the sea moth can not fly over water.
Dwells on the bottom, burrowing into the sand, dirt, gravel and crushed stone at a depth of 1 to 90 m.
During the spawn are not allowed to own males. Fertilization of eggs occurs within the female body.
It is rare to find, since they are well camouflaged. The maximum dimensions of 10-12 cm
