Red Sea - Bottom - night - single - carnivores - snorkeling / scuba diving - 5 / 40 m depth

Platycephalidae. This fish is widely distributed in the northern Red Sea, especially in the Sinai Peninsula, where they lie on the bottom, completely hidden layer of sand and waiting for floating fish. They have a laterally compressed body, flat head with a prominent lower jaw - all this gives it an aggressive look. In fact, the fish completely harmless to humans, except for a few spines, which can greatly pinprick, if the fish to pick up.

Flatheads live singly or in pairs, sometimes they are resting, lying on each other. It seems they are attracted sunken skeletons of ships, where they can be found quite often.
