Chaetodon semilarvatus

Red Sea - Reefs - Day - gregarious / solitary - carnivores / omnivores - snorkeling / scuba diving - 0 / 30 m depth

Butterflyfish. Most typical and colorful reef fishes. During the day they are singly or in pairs patrolling the area, and spend the night, lying on the bottom. Paint them in this time varies slightly, becoming slightly darker. Some of them are almost omnivorous, others - very picky. The latter include funny fish with long, narrow snout, which they use when procuring small polyps found in stony corals. Most species of fish, butterflies form a permanent pair for several years, and sometimes for life.
