Iran welcomes the newly-struck agreement with Egypt to resume flights between Tehran and Cairo, Iranian officials said. The deal breaks a 31-year hiatus of flights between the respective capitals.
“We hope this would be a positive step towards normalizing relations between us,” said Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast.
Egyptian Foreign Ministry spokesman Hossam Zaki admitted the agreement improves economic relations with Iran. Zaki, however, refrained from commenting on the political ramifications the deal may have.
