Squash: Egypt wins in Carol Weymuller Open

Egyptian squash player, world number 12 Raneem El-Weleily, won the Carol Weymuller Open Women’s squash tournament in New York after smashing Englishwoman, and world number 2,Jenny Duncalf 3-0 on Sunday in the final.


“It’s a shame that this great week ended with a 3-0 defeat but Raneem has had the week of her career,” Duncalf said after the game.The 22-year old, who won the junior championship twice, won the match 11-7, 15-13 and 11-4.“I am really, really, really, really happy! I would like to thank everyone at home who has been following me (on the live streaming) and supporting me,” El-Weleily said after the match.El-Weleily started the championship by defeating Englishwoman Laura Massaro 3-1 then passed Frenchwoman Camiliie Serme 3-2 before crushing Irishwoman Madeline Perry 3-0.

“It’s been a great tournament and it’s definitely my favourite place now and hopefully this is not the last tournament I will win,” said the Alexandrian.
