Berenice is the southernmost international resort centre in the Red Sea Province of Egypt

It is located on the shores of a beautiful bay on the small rocky peninsula of Ras Banas.
It is a small port town and has a population of about 1500 to 2000 local residents, who are mainly engaged in fishing and tourism. Founded by Ptolemy II, the port was named after his mother.
