HEPCA Launches Hurghada's New Waste Management Scheme
The Hurghada Solid Waste Management Project is HEPCA’s most recent initiative and our most ambitious undertaking to date.
As of February 2011, HEPCA has taken on full responsibility of solid waste collection throughout all of Hurghada; a city estimated to host around 250,000 people and produces nearly 300 tons of waste a day. The scheme aims to remove all current garbage pileups while developing a sustainable, efficient, and environmentally conscious solid waste management system.
You might be asking how exactly can you help?
You can help keep Hurghada clean by following these simple steps:
Place your solid waste in rubbish bags.
Place your garbage in the provided disposal bins. A bin should be available within 75m of your home (if one isn't please contact us)
Take out your waste in the evening. Bins will be emptied starting at 11pm.
Make sure the lid of rubbish bins is closed to protect from scavenging dogs, cats, rats and other animals.
Keep gardens and public places free of rubbish.
Report dumping or accumulation of waste in public areas.
Keep toxic and medical waste in separate cardboard boxes and properly labeled, in order to ensure our team’s safety and the implementation of proper disposal processes.
Disposing of garbage outside the designated disposal containers is subject to a fine by the Red Sea Governorate in accordance to law 4/1994.
